SEASON 13 of the Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project


Sign-ups for the 13th season of the Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project are underway.  If you have always wanted to be a part of an archaeological excavation to satisfy your inner Indian Jones – here is your chance. The dig season will encompass five weeks starting February 4th continuing through March 8th. Contact the TSU Administrative Office at 505-332-4253 for more information.


Weekend Field Trips are a part of our excavation. Here is the schedule:

Friday 2 Feb: Amman Citadel, Roman Theater, Jordan Museum
Saturday 3 Feb: Desert Castles

Friday 9 Feb: Jerash (biblical Gerasa, A Decapolis city) and Ajloun Castle
Saturday 10 Feb: Wadi Mujib, Bab edh-Dhra, Karak Castle

Friday 16 Feb: Shobek Castle and Petra (1st time volunteers free)
Saturday 17 Feb: Madaba, Mount Nebo, and Umm al-Rasas

Friday and Saturday, 23-24 Feb: (cost approx. $125 USD per person) overnight trip to Wadi Rum (stay in a ‘Bedouin’ seeting, dinner included) an Aqaba (snorkeling and/or glass bottom boat; bring warm clothes and a bathing suit)

Friday 2 March: Pella and Umm Qais (biblical Gadara)
Saturday 3 March: Baptism Site and Machaerus (Mukawir – palace/stronghold where Salome danced for Herod and John the Baptist was beheaded)


through 1 May 2017: $650 for volunteers; $550 for *students
2 May  - 1 July 2017: $850 for volunteers; $650 for *students
2 July – 1 December 2017: $1050 for volunteers;$750 for *students
(no sign-ups after 1 December 2017)
*Student: undergradate, graduate, or doctoral student actively enrolled in any educational institution).
