Is the Bible a True Narrative Representation?

by Steven Collins PhD and John W. Oller, Jr.

The application of TNR-theory reveals that the biblical narratives meet the demands of TNR-theory. However, theories generally denying the historical accuracy and authenticity of biblical narratives are shown to be untenable on account of inherent inconsistencies, failure to comprehend relevant data, and because they fail the test of simplicity at every turn. The only theory that is consistent with all of the facts presented, and the simpler theory by a far cry, is that the Bible should be regarded as a TNR.

    Let My People Go

    by Steven Collins PhD

Historians and Bible scholars have a long history of speculation about the identity of the pharaoh at the time of the Israelite Exodus from Egypt. Indeed, we cannot help but wonder to which of Egypt?s great kings Moses said, ?Let my people go!? Some believe that the answer lies in comparing a selected biblical Exodus chronology (early or late) with a particular version of the Egyptian chronology (high, middle or low), thereby locating the Pharaoh of the Exodus at a point of chronological correlation. But this approach has always proved inadequate from a historiographical perspective. This detailed study reveals that the Exodus events as described in the Bible do, in fact, fit with precision into a corresponding segment of ancient Near Eastern history when sources from Egypt, Hatti, Mittani, Assyria, the Levant, and the biblical narratives are properly understood and superimposed.

Locating Tall el-Hammam on the Madaba Map

by David E. Graves and Scott Stripling

The Madaba Mosaic Map indicates a prominent but unnamed site near the upper-left edge, just above the Jordan River. Various attempts have been made to identify it with Tall Iktanu, Tall Kefrein, Tall Nimrin, Tall Rama, and Khirbet Sweimeh. This article demonstrates that the better candidate for this site is Tall el-Hammam which boasts superior size, perfect location, abundant water, and Early Roman/Byzantine remains.

    Passion, Power, Proxy, Release

    by Latayne C. Scott, PhD

Passion, Power, Proxy, Release is a reflective, insightful work surrounding the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ—two of the most important events in the history of mankind—and how those events affect the believer, particularly as they pertain to communion and worship. While no follower of Christ ever wishes to take His sacrifice lightly, the Scriptures, poems and insights contained within this work reach deep into our souls and reignite that first love, even if it blazes hot.

Reassessing the Term hakikkar in Nehemiah as Bearing on the Location of the Cities of the Plain

    by Steven Collins PhD

In this paper I demonstrate that in no instance in the OT does kikkar refer to a geographical-topographical feature other than the southern Jordan Valley, north of the Dead Sea, and areas contiguous with it.

    Rethinking the Location of Zoar

    by Steven Collins PhD

Zoar is typically located near the southern tip of the Dead Sea. However, a careful analysis of key biblical passages signals that it must be outside the territories of Moab and Edom, which makes the southern Dead Sea location questionable. Zoar is designated as the southern boundary of the Reuben tribal allotment, and, therefore, should be placed somewhere near the Arnon Gorge, north of the Moabite Kingdom boundary.

Whereas most books on Revelation are theological in nature, this book is distinctively different.  Get ready for a verse-by-verse—and sometimes phrase-by-phrase—walk through the apostle John’s Revelation of Jesus Christ that will challenge you to think about what John might have actually seen as the Revelation unfolded and how he interpreted what he saw so that he could explain it to his readers.

This book is intended to be used as a study guide.  It asks a lot of thought-provoking questions and provides space in which to write your answers. Background information is provided where needed to help you understand the more subtle issues and difficult passages.  Extensive endnotes are provided to assist leaders in preparing for group studies.

Use this book for your own personal study.  Use it as a leader’s guide for group study.  Just be ready to think and to think outside the box—as you are led through this fascinating last book of the Bible.
